Dedicated to the understanding, control, and optimization of interface dominated materials properties
The Materials Research Science and Engineering Center
(MRSEC) is an interdisciplinary research and educational
enterprise within Carnegie Mellon University dedicated the understanding,
control and optimization of grain boundary dominated materials properties.
The collaboration of researchers with complementary backgrounds, skills,
and knowledge is critical to meeting the Center's technical objectives.
The Center is funded by industrial sponsors and government agencies. The National Science Foundation (NSF) established the Center in 1996 and remains its primary sponsor.
